annual RBA Green
Council awards
program. The
winners, some
dressed in 'designer
' gowns and tuxedos
were happy to share
their sustainable
secrets.

The RBA's 7th Annual
Green Awards program
recognized four
amazing winners that
join the over 20
previous RBA Green
Council Award
winners.

In the Energy
Category, Innovative
Plastics won for
participating in
O&R's C&I
(Commercial and
Industrial Program)
three times over the
last two year.
Reducing their
electrical usage by
more than 600,000
kWh/year, saving
more than $100,000
annually. In
the Water
Conservation
Category
Rockland Country
Club showed how golf
courses can be
managed
sustainability -
saving over $70,000
a year by irrigating
it's entire golf
course from its own
underground-spring-
and rain-fed pond.
Keep Rockland
Beautiful' s
bi-annual cleanup
and various
educational
campaigns earned
them a Green Award
in the Solid Waste
Category.
Finally, Rockland
Community College
won it's
unprecedented second
Green Council Award
in the
Transportation
category by
implementing a
Rideshare Portal
with 511NY Rideshare
to encourage
students and faculty
to carpool to
campus.
