An exciting, multi-million dollar capital improvement project - under the auspices of Michael Shilale Architects, LLP (MSA), a growing New City, NY architectural engineering firm - is about to begin construction in Rockland County.

The energy efficiency capital improvements for North Rockland’s 10 schools (recently approved by NY SED) involved careful analysis of numerous factors. Boosted by Governor Cuomo’s innovative clean energy and environmental initiatives, the resulting recommendations made by Michael Shilale Architects achieved cost-savings that will foot the bill for the entire project. Happy news for tax-weary North Rockland residents!

“Every project we’re involved with has it’s own set of objectives and unique challenges. For my team, the key for creating the best result is through a thoughtful review of all options, creative design, energy-smart materials and expert construction,” says Michael Shilale, AIA, LEED, and founding partner of MSA..

“We chose Michael Shilale Archtiects for this important energy-efficiency project, because of their expertise, outstanding record of performance, and supportive service,” says James Johnston, Assistant Superintendent for Business at the North Rockland Central School District. “The MSA team has terrific insight and solutions pertaining to complex, energy-efficient projects, especially in economically frugal situations.”

This complex project creates the funds for a new 3 million dollar roof constructed to be self healing and long lasting, on the North Rockland High School. It also includes a 75 kW cogeneration unit that generates electricity and heat more efficiently, condensing boilers, high performance lighting and many other sustainable strategies.

Shilale’s firm - noted for their best practices, energy and environmentally-sensitive LEED-accredited work - has designed hundreds of innovative, functional buildings in NY, NJ, CT, CA, MI and FL. Acclaimed green projects include the award winning Kathleen Lukens Living Center for Camp Venture in Sparkill, and the Jawoni’s Tendler Center in New Hempstead, NY.
