Hospice Residence

We believe this residence will serve as a model for Hospice Care throughout the agency and the region to educate, illuminate and inspire the community on Hospice. We hope to create a wonderful place for staff to work and recharge and where Hospice patients and their families can contemplate their spirituality, reconnect with loved ones, acknowledge our mutual mortalities, celebrate life and achieve a peaceful and possibly beautiful death.

The sounds of water and framed views are intended to expand, embrace and ease the transition from home to hospice.  Upon entering the hospice home, the height and light in the entry space is intended to welcome and inspire.  Diamond shaped dormers illuminate the entry and other spaces from above.  One's first view from inside is back to the outside towards the center courtyard. Inside the courtyard surrounded by nature is the meditation space that will serve to orient one both physically and spiritually.

Four pavilions surround the central courtyard. The north, south and west pavilions contain primarily patient suites. The east pavilion includes the many common areas. The Great Room with high ceilings, a fireplace and spectacular views will encourage common gathering and dining. A piano and media center will allow music both live and electronic to be enjoyed.  The conversation niches will serve both staff and families for private impromptu dialogues as well as quiet solitude amidst the trees.
