Michael Richard Shilale Architects, LLP of New City was selected to be part of the architectural design team for the Rockland Community College Master Plan Implementation Project. This prestigious invitation was made by the internationally renowned firm of Mitchell/Giurgola Architects, LLP based in New York City.

Michael Richard Shilale Architects, AIA has already begun the design process for the renovation phase by evaluating and redesigning space for several buildings including the Library, the Student Union, Brucker Hall, and the Fieldhouse. A new Technology Classroom Building is being designed by Mitchell/Giurgola Architects. Site Improvements around the campus are being designed by Leonard Jackson Associates.

The Suffern campus project will include new facilities to meet Student Life and Activity needs and to house the computer and technology based academic programs. The consolidation of Student Services, improving campus entrances and the connection between buildings, providing more parking close to academic buildings and improving vehicular circulation access are also important objectives for the project.

The overall goal of the Master Plan is to enhance the image of the campus and provide a “concentration of Academic space that will again allow Rockland to offer all aspects of its degree programs in facilities centrally located on its Suffern Campus.”
