Designed
to meet the specific needs of residents
with Alzheimer’s, this project’s
goals were to assure safety and security
for residents, support functional abilities,
assist in way finding, prompt memory, support
independence and facilitate social interactions
while maintaining privacy. Michael Shilale
created a building that features eight single
bedrooms each with two windows, four bathrooms,
and large window filled common spaces including
two lounges, a dining room and recreational
day room. The one story addition allows
for several secure outdoor patio areas and
a nurses’ station that is strategically
located without being intrusive. Residents
have privacy in their bedroom and bath areas
while welcoming open spaces promote a social
environment, resident interaction and homelike
visits with family and friends |
